Timing Huts

The role of the timing hut teams is to:

Admin

Team leader will provide a rota. Those arriving at the start of the day report to the Finish Tower to collect radios, clocks, stopwatches, paper and pencils, etc. Those on the second shift also report to the Tower so that we know that you have arrived.

In each of the timing huts, sort out breaks between yourselves. If you are racing in the afternoon, please come back after racing. The timing huts have electrical sockets, if you want to bring kettles etc. Lunch will be provided. If you have a pair of binoculars, please bring them.

Last shift, please return radios, clocks and stop watches to the Finish Tower (you can leave the telephone)

The radios will be on a Channel (please check which one) which is only open to the huts and the commentators.  We recommend that you keep the radio on all the time, but only speak as the race is passing.

At all timing points

We suggest that

Then, using WRENS > Results > xxxm Splits

Please note that the commentary team will be using the information you enter (as well as anything you radio through). Although you can't enter data until the last boat has past, the sooner you can enter it after that, the more use it will be for the commentary.

Alternatively

Use Enter Results (WRENS > Results > Enter Results) where you have more control, but take care to enter correctly

Time Trials

Special attention will be needed if a race is run as a time trial.  For these, the 500m point will be the start, so correct timing here will be critical.  See separate control sheet .

Timing at 1000 at 1500 is not needed, so you can stretch your legs.
